The Village of Lake in the Hills is excited to announce the return of the annual Summer Sunset Festival. The event will be held at Sunset Park, located at 5200 Miller Road, over Labor Day weekend from September 3-5, 2021.
“This year marks the festival’s twentieth anniversary,” said Village Trustee Diane Murphy, the festival’s chairperson. “We couldn’t be more excited to celebrate this momentous milestone by coming together as a community after a difficult year.”
The Summer Sunset Festival Committee plans to host the carnival, Sunset Fun Zone, food and drink vendors, and live music throughout all three days of the celebration. Each day will feature special events, including a car show, bags tournament, craft fair, family bingo, parade, and of course, Sunday evening’s finale fireworks. As the event schedule and details develop, updates will be posted on the festival’s website and Facebook Page.
“The Summer Sunset Fest Committee is eager to welcome back our beloved end-of-summer celebration,” said Village President and festival committee member Ray Bogdanowski. “We are planning to bring the community a festival to remember in celebration of both the event’s return and its twentieth anniversary. We can’t wait to see everyone.”
While the Summer Sunset Festival Committee plans to hold the event in its traditional format at this time, the event details are subject to change if the current COVID-19 guidelines necessitate format adjustments or cancellation at the time of the event.
The festival was cancelled in 2020 to meet COVID-19 mitigation measures and prioritize the safety and wellbeing of the community.
Sponsorship opportunities are available for local businesses, as well as opportunities to volunteer for area residents. Find up-to-date information on the festival schedule, event details, and sponsorship opportunities at summersunsetfest.com.
